Family Reconciliation, Overcoming CP Through Faith, and My Odyssey

Life guides us through paths we never anticipated, and sometimes, those paths are filled with moments that test our resolve, faith, and love for one another. I recently embarked on a journey that will forever hold a special place in my heart.

My grandfather had strong convictions and a big heart, though he didn’t always show it in the gentlest ways. He had a particular way of giving “tough love.” When I decided to leave a well-paying job to focus on FaithoverCP and the Invisibrace, a project inspired by my daughter, who has cerebral palsy, he wasn’t shy about expressing his doubts. He questioned my decision, worried about the stability and future of our family. Despite his skepticism, I knew deep down that my calling was to help others, to make a difference in the lives of those facing challenges similar to my daughter’s.

As my grandfather’s health began to decline, my aunt reached out, asking if I could come and pray with him. It was a moment I had been waiting for, not just to see my grandfather one last time but to show him the strength of my convictions and to seek his approval. My brother-in-law, a pastor with cerebral palsy, joined me on this eight-hour drive. Our relationship had been strained due to a disagreement several months prior, but this journey offered us a chance to mend our bond and grow together.

When we arrived, my grandfather greeted me with his familiar tough love. He questioned if I truly knew what I was doing, leaving behind security for a dream. At that moment, I gave him my own InvisaSoles, a symbol of the journey I had embarked on and the belief that this path was correct. My brother-in-law and I prayed together, asking for strength, guidance, and peace for my grandfather.

As our prayers concluded, my grandfather looked at me with eyes that had softened over the years and told me he was proud of me. It was a moment I had longed for that validated my sacrifices and choices. Knowing that he was at peace and had found some solace in Jesus before he passed away was a blessing.

This trip wasn’t just about my grandfather but also a time of reconciliation with my brother-in-law. Our journey together allowed us to heal old wounds and strengthen our family ties, proving that forgiveness and growth are always possible.

FaithoverCP was born out of a desire to make the world a better place, to encourage others to look beyond the surface and see the heart and potential within every person. It’s about being good, putting others first, and fostering a community of love, faith, and acceptance.

This experience reaffirmed my belief in our mission. It reminded me that every step we take, every person we touch, and every challenge we overcome brings us closer to a world where everyone’s unique journey is celebrated. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share this story, and I hope it inspires others to look within, to forgive, and to follow their hearts, no matter how tough the road may seem.

Thank you for being part of our journey at FaithoverCP. Together, we can make a difference.

With love and gratitude,

Michael Urbanowicz
